Properties stored outside the visible PDF page
A PDF can store properties such as title, author, subject and keywords separately from the content readers see. Applications may display these fields in a Properties panel or use them in search and cataloging. They can remain attached after the filename changes. This tool edits those listed fields; it should not be treated as a complete forensic metadata scrubber.
When document properties need attention
- Remove an outdated name or organization from a PDF author field
- Replace a generic title inserted by the program that created the document
- Add useful title, author, subject or keyword information to a PDF before publication

Frequently asked questions
Does this change the visible content of my PDF?
It changes the listed document properties, not the visible page design. Saving still creates a modified PDF and can invalidate a digital signature, so retain the signed original when applicable.
Can I remove all metadata at once?
You can clear the PDF title, author, subject and keyword fields together. Other information may exist elsewhere in the file, including XMP packets, attachments, comments or application-specific data, so this is not a guarantee that every trace of metadata is removed.
What if a field is already empty?
Not every PDF defines every property. Leave an empty field alone, enter a new value or clear the listed fields as a group.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. JavaScript reads and saves the PDF locally in your browser.
