How this conversion actually works
DOCX stores document structure, styles, relationships, and resources rather than a fixed page image. Orisod interprets supported content, renders a browser representation, and builds the PDF from that result. Pagination and layout therefore come from the browser-based implementation, not from Microsoft Word's formatting engine.
What this means for the PDF's text
In Orisod's current snapshot-based output, rendered pages become images, so the document text is not preserved as a selectable PDF text layer. Search, copy, accessibility, hyperlinks, and text extraction are consequently limited. This is a property of this implementation, not an unavoidable limitation of every client-side Word converter.
What else can shift
Fonts can be substituted when they are unavailable, changing line breaks and pagination. Headers, footers, sections, columns, tables, floating objects, equations, fields, comments, tracked changes, page numbering, and embedded content may be simplified or omitted. Even a mostly textual contract requires visual comparison when page positions matter.
When this is the right tool
- You need to share a Word document as a PDF and don't have Word installed
- Your document is mostly text with uncomplicated formatting, and you can review the rendered pages before relying on them
- The recipient doesn't need to select, copy, or search the PDF's text
- You'd rather keep the conversion private and client-side than upload the file to a server
Inspect the PDF before sharing
Will text be selectable? Not in Orisod's current snapshot-based output. If searchable, accessible text is required, use an exporter that creates a real PDF text layer and verify it.
Does it accept legacy .doc files? This tool accepts DOCX, not DOC. Convert the old file with compatible office software; opening and resaving can itself change layout, macros, fields, or older features.
Will formatting match exactly? No guarantee should be assumed. Compare page count, line breaks, fonts, tables, headers, footers, images, equations, and links with the DOCX.
Convert your Word document to PDF
Orisod's Word to PDF tool renders supported DOCX content in your browser and builds an image-based PDF. Preserve the DOCX and inspect every page of the download before sending it.
Convert Word to PDF →This snapshot workflow favors convenient visual sharing over searchable text and exact Word pagination. Use it for documents that pass visual review; use a full document-layout exporter when fidelity, accessibility, links, or selectable text are requirements.
