Word to PDF

Render a .docx document as an image-based PDF without uploading the source file.

ℹ️ Best-effort conversion: this renders your document's content and takes a snapshot to build the PDF: it does not use Word's own layout engine, so exact fonts, spacing, and complex layouts may differ slightly from the original. Like our HTML to PDF tool, the output is an image snapshot, so the resulting PDF's text is not selectable or searchable. Works best for straightforward, mostly-text documents. Only the modern .docx format is supported. The older .doc format is not.

Capture a browser rendering of a Word document

The converter reads headings, paragraphs, basic text styling, lists, tables and inline images from a Word .docx file, renders the content in the browser and captures that rendering in a PDF. It does not use Microsoft Word’s layout engine, so fonts, pagination, headers, footers and complex positioning may differ. The pages are image-based, which means their text is not selectable or searchable.

Best for straightforward documents and visual sharing

  • Create a shareable PDF when Microsoft Word is unavailable
  • Convert a document built with simple paragraphs, lists or tables
  • Produce a visual copy when selectable PDF text is unnecessary
  • Keep the source document on your device during conversion

Frequently asked questions

Will the PDF's text be selectable or searchable?
No. Each PDF page contains a rendered image of the document, much like an HTML canvas snapshot, so the words are not stored as selectable text. OCR applied afterward may add a text layer, but it requires proofreading.
Does this work with the older .doc format?
Only .docx is supported. Convert an older .doc file to .docx with compatible word-processing software before using this tool.
Will complex formatting be preserved exactly?
Not always. The browser renderer is different from Word, and unsupported fonts, page breaks, headers, footers, floating objects or elaborate layouts can shift. Inspect every page of an important document.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. JavaScript reads, renders and exports the document locally in your browser.
